Miss Mejit Crowned First Ever Miss Marshall Islands

The Miss Marshall Islands Pageant came to a close on Saturday, 13 July, and wow - what a night!

Twenty-four contestants from twenty-four atolls competed in a competition of talent, poise, intelligence and beauty in a bid to be crowned the first-ever Miss Marshall Islands.

It was a night which won't be forgotten in a hurry! Contestants danced, answered questions, displayed their atoll's cultural wear and gorgeous formal wear in the spectacle that was the finale of the five-day pageant program.

Throughout the night, the hosts kept the audience entertained, as did dance and singing groups. Both Miss Pacific Islands from Papua New Guinea and Miss Nauru were present in the audience on the evening, and Miss Pacific Islands stunned the audience with a beautiful dance partway through the show.

The young women competing shared so many experiences and bonded during the pre-pageant itinerary, which included a parade, talent show and more.

While there were over 300 people present in the room on the evening, another 3600 viewers tuned in to the Facebook live stream, which was broadcast via the National Telecommunications Authority in the Marshall Islands and even shown on a large outdoor screen.

Enjoy a selection of some of our favourite photos from the evening below. Nauru Airlines was proud to sponsor this event and it was a pleasure to be part of such an incredible evening.

Congratulations to all of the incredible contestants who took part in the event, and the many teams and individuals who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make it happen. A special congratulations goes out to Miss Mejit, the first Miss Marshall Islands.
